ROME – The Locarno Film Festival has secured world preems of two new works by celebrated auteurs, South Korea’s Hong Sangsoo, sometimes dubbed “the Korean Woody Allen,” and Polish auteur Andrzej Zulawski, who is known for his creative anarchy.
Hong Sang-soo will bow his tongue in cheek “Right Now, Wrong Then,” about chance encounters between men and women.
Zulawski is launching “Cosmos,” a metaphysical noir adapted from the eponymous novel by prominent Polish author Witold Gombrowic. French-portoguese co-prod produced by Paulo Branco toplines Sabine Azéma, the French actress and longtime Alain Resnais muse who presided over this year’s Camera d’Or jury at Cannes.
Both directors are regulars at the Swiss fest dedicated to international indie cinema, which will run August 5-15.
The full lineup of Locarno’s 68th edition will be announced on July 15.
