Fans gathered to pay tribute to Wong Ka Kui

1 Jul - Over a hundred fans recently gathered at the Chinese Permanent Cemetery in Tseung Kwan O, where Beyond vocalist and founder Wong Ka Kui was laid to rest, to pay tribute to the singer on the 22nd anniversary of his passing.

According to Mingpao News, fans, clad in black, gathered at the location bearing items including candles, flowers, soft drinks, beer, wine, and cigarettes, and sat down together to remember the singer.

A fan, who brought guitar to the event, also sang several Beyond songs, joined by other fans from time to time.

According to a source, the number of fans attending the gathering has increased from a few to over a hundred.

Meanwhile, band members Steve Wong, Paul Wong, and Yip Sai Wing have also turned to social media to reminisce about the singer.

Brother Steve wrote, "I understand that crying can't change the past, but I still shed a tear because of nostalgia. We love you and we will always miss you."

Wong Ka Kui passed away on 24 June 1993, a week after falling off the stage of a game show at the Tokyo Fuji Television studio.

He was 31.
