Chandrapur: Sleuths of Chandrapur Anti Corruption Bureau (ACB) laid separate traps and arrested two persons in Chandrapur and Gadchiroli for taking bribe. Incidentally both the accused belong to the finance department.
The team on Tuesday caught chief accountant
Sanjay Atram of Bhamragarh forest department in Gadchiroli while taking Rs1,000 bribe for clearing pension and various allowances of a complainant post retirement.
The complainant had taken voluntary retirement from Bhamrahgarh forest division back in January 2013. His leave salary, partial retirement pension and gratuity were due from the office. After repeated pleas to chief accountant, cheque of his leave pay worth Rs22,723 was released by the department. However, the cheque bounced as the signature of drawer did not match at the bank.
When the complainant called Atram to inform him of the problem, he asked for bribe of Rs1,000 to correct his cheque and clear other dues. The complainant then approached ACB Chandrapur through the mobile app of the anti-corruption department and filed the complaint. A team led by Dy SP, ACB,
Roshan Yadav laid the trap at Bhamragarh forest office in Allapalli and arrested accused Atram while taking the bribe from the complainant.
In the other incident, junior assistant
Vasudev Pal in finance department in Chandrapur ZP was arrested for taking bribe of Rs400. The complainant is a health department employee under ZP and had applied for Rs75,000 loan from his provident fund and the department had approved Rs60,000 against his application.
When he approached Vasudev Pal in finance department, he sought bribe of Rs500 for forwarding his bill to treasury. Unwilling, the complainant ostensibly agreed but filed complaint with ACB Chandrapur. Accordingly ACB team laid a trap at office of chief accountant and finance in ZP Chandrapur and trapped Pal taking Rs400 after negotiations from the complainant.
