The Hero Xtreme Sports gets a slight update in power, new paint shade and a side stand indicator. It has now been officially launched in the country although sales started earlier this year.
Hero MotoCorp has officially launched the Xtreme Sports in the country with prices starting at Rs. 71, 515/- (ex-showroom, Chennai). The automaker’s premium 150cc offering in the country, the Xtreme Sports was first showcased at the 2014 Auto Expo and made it to the market early this year. However, there was no official announcement about the launch then, which the two-wheeler maker has done now. This is also Hero’s second launch for the month of June after the MY2015 Passion Pro was officially launched in the country, much later after sales commenced.
As the name suggests, the Hero Xtreme Sports is the more powerful variant of the Xtreme and gets certain different bits like the new wolf shaped headlight cluster, new front cowl with an aerodynamic visor, twin LED pilot lamps and winkers, split seats, LED tail lamp, split grab rails and a sporty looking exhaust cover. Despite the upgrades though, the commuter-ish stance continues to be dominating on the motorcycle. The instrument console is an analog-digital unit and get a side stand indicator. The oddly placed ignition key is under the headlight cluster.
Power on the 2015 Hero Xtreme Sports comes from a 149.2cc air-cooled, single-cylinder engine that is tuned to produce 15.2 BHP at 8500 RPM and 13.5 Nm of torque at 7000 RPM, paired to a 5-speed gearbox. The bike is capable of doing the 0-60 km/hr run in a claimed 4.7 seconds. Suspension duties are performed by telescopic forks at the front and the rear gets twin shock absorbers. Braking performance comes from 240 mm disc at the front and 220 mm disc at the rear. Hero MotoCorp is offering the new Xtreme Sports in five colours including Panther Black, Fiery Red, Mercuric Silver and the new Black-Red and Pyro Orange.
