Two dupe a lady off gold ornaments by posing as cops

VADODARA: A resident of Gotri was cheated by two unidentified persons who introduced themselves as cops on Tuesday morning.
Mahalaxmi Iyer told the police that the accused duo came on a motorbike when she was passing from Anandvila Complex on Tuesday at about 10am. One of the accused approached Iyer and told her that his accomplice was calling her.
The accused told her that they were cops and that other cops were patrolling at some distance. "The accused told her that some murder had happened in the morning and asked her to remove her gold ornaments and keep them in her bag.
They told her that she may be penalized Rs 2,000 if she was found wearing gold ornaments. The lady believed them and removed her gold chain and bangles," said the police.
Iyer kept the ornaments in her bag following which the accused ask her to show them the bag. They diverted her attention and fled from the spot.
