Mandya CMC members to approach Governor

Some councillors of the Mandya City Municipal Council (CMC) on Tuesday have accused Housing Minister M.H. Ambareesh and some senior officials of ignoring the development of the city by revising the action plan, which was prepared under the Chief Minister's Small and Medium Town Development Project (CMSMTDP).

The CMC had decided to undertake development works at a cost of Rs. 6 crore at different parts of the city under the CMSMTDP. A detailed action was prepared, accepted at the CMC meeting and submitted for approval. However, recently the CMC has revised the action plan, councillor B. Siddaraju, who had recently stepped down from the post of the president, said.

Speaking to presspersons, Mr. Siddaraju said that Mr. Ambareesh and the CMC Commissioner M.N. Shashikumar have signed the recently revised action plan. Amaravathi Chandrashekar (Mr. Ambareesh’s follower) was the reason for this development, he alleged.

The former CMC president has also held the Deputy Commissioner M.N. Ajay Nagabushan responsible for the development.

The earlier plan was passed in the CMC and was sent to Mr. Nagabushan for further procedures. However, the D.C. had not taken necessary action on the plan that made the CMC to revise the plan, he said.

Properly prepared

The earlier plan was properly prepared and hence Mr. Ambareesh should initiate measures to consider it, he requested.

Revisions in the action plan will affect the progress of the development, he opined.

To Governor

Meanwhile, the councillors have decided to approach Governor Vajubhai Rudabhai Vala seeking his interference into the irregularities pertaining to illegal constructions/encroachments in the town.

“Some influential persons have violated the norms while constructing buildings and some others have encroached the land. We have already written to the Lokayukta and soon we will write to the Governor,” councillor N. Anil Kumar told The Hindu .

Former CMC Vice-President Chandrakala Shivaram, councillors M. Mahesh, Ramalingaiah, Pushpavathi and others were present.
