Shraddha Kapoor exuded grace and confidence at the promotion of her recent film, ABCD 2 in Bengaluru. The 26-year-old actor, in her five-year-long career, is best known for her roles in Mohit Suri’s Aashiqui 2 and Ek Villain ,and Vishal Baradwaj’s Haider . Recounting her journey so far in Bollywood, Shraddha says: “It started with a low. But then Aashiqui changed my life. It feels amazing that I am living my childhood dream. I have got such wonderful opportunities. I have worked with wonderful people and with legends in the industry,” says the multi-talented actor , who is also a certified scuba diver and has started her own clothing line, Imara.

When it comes to choosing roles, she says: “I go with my gut and not how it might turn out to be. If I like a role, I take it up.”

Speaking about her preparation for ABCD 2 , based on a true story of a Hip Hop dance troupe from India, which won an international dance competition, Shraddha says the training was extremely vigorous. “I got a leg injury. But it was a life changing experience.”

Research for her role, she says, included a thorough approach. “We had to actually listen to the dancers, and to their stories. We got to know of their struggles. How they realised their dreams. The level of ambition of dancers is so high. I am so happy that our film portrayed that.”

Working with Prabhu Deva was a special experience for her. “Everybody knows Prabhu sir is a legend. But to see how he thinks, how he conducts himself is wonderful. He is a human being of such high stature, yet he is so grounded.”

Quiz her on what she is looking forward to, and she says with a smile: “In Rock On 2 , the sequel to Rock On I will get to sing.”
