Cape Town - Tottenham Hotspur are set to offer Aston Villa a player plus cash deal to part ways with Belgian striker Christian Benteke.
The Mirror report that Spurs will offer Emmanuel Adebayor in part payment for Benteke.
Liverpool are set to face opposition from fellow top four chasers, Tottenham Hotspur, in their pursuit of Christian Benteke.
Both clubs are reportedly unwilling to match Benteke's £32.5 million buyout clause with Spurs set to offer Togo international star Emmanuel Adebayor in the deal to sign Benteke.
Spurs will hope that Aston Villa manager Tim Sherwood's relationship with Adebayor can persuade the Villians to let Benteke make the move to White Hart Lane.
During his time as boss of Spurs, Sherwood gave Adebayor a second chance at the club with fantastic results for both player and manager.
Adebayor bagged 14 goals in just 25 games for Spurs under Sherwood.
A move including the Togo international would not be ironed out quickly with the player's wages presenting a problem as well as personal issues - Adebayor is currently dealing with long-term and public family drama.
