Man shot dead during robbery

One person was killed and three others injured in an armed robbery that took place in the Bhorva village of Dhanpur taluka of Dahod district. The robbers had resorted to indiscriminate firing in a bid to escape after robbery.

VADODARA: One person was killed and three others injured in an armed robbery that took place in the Bhorva village of Dhanpur taluka of Dahod district. The robbers had resorted to indiscriminate firing in a bid to escape after robbery.
The robbers struck at the house of one Shankar Aapsinh Lavar in the early hours on Monday and threatened Shankar who was sleeping outside the house.
They also beat up Shankar with a stick and forcefully entered the house.
Shankar’s daughter Nanda, who was inside the house, has stated in an offence registered with the police that the robbers opened a cupboard and took cash and silver jewellery. They also robbed her of silver jewellery that she was wearing. The total value of the stolen booty is estimated to be around Rs 14,500.
When the robbers were leaving the house, Shankar raised an alarm along with other family members. Those residing in their neighborhood too rushed out of the house. The robbers got alarmed and in a bid to escape from the spot fired repeatedly at the persons who had gathered there. Three persons – Suresh Lavar, Bhalka Lavar and Bhalka’s son Amrat Lavar – were injured due to gunshot wounds.
Suresh (16) was seriously injured and was rushed along with Shankar, Bhalka and Amrat to the Dahod civic hospital. Suresh was pronounced brought dead at the hospital. Another person Ishwar Lavar sustained minor injured after he was beaten with a blunt object.
Dahod superintendent of police Mayanksinh Chawda said that two bullet cartridges were recovered from the place where the accused had resorted to firing. He pointed out that the spent cartridges indicated that a country-made .12 bore gun was used for the robbery. “We have rounded up some suspects and are conducting investigations,” he said.
