INDORE: Workshop for city colleges was organized by women and child welfare department (WCD) regarding awareness on problems faced by girls during menstrual cycle and hygiene and sanitation at district collector’s office on Monday.
District sub-director VPS Rathore said, “Directors and principals of around 250 colleges were invited at the workshop to make them aware about government’s new project for girls ‘Udita’.”
He added that under this project, WCD educated college officials to create awareness among girls studying in their institute about the menstrual cycle and hygiene necessary with it.
“Under the project ‘Udita’ we have asked all institutes install sanitary napkin vending machines in their institutes, hostels, near-by shops and public places where girls can easily access them,” said Rathore. Meanwhile, district collector P Narhari said, “Under this project, 53 vending machines have been installed in Aanganwadi schools, while soon there would be ‘Udita’ corner at schools and college from where they can purchase sanitary napkins.”
