One of the teenaged undertrails who made a daring escape from Tihar on Saturday night was found by security personnel inside a dry drain next to a public road. He was crying.
Faizan blamed his mate Javed alias Rinku for duping him into the act and then dumping him, police said. “He used me for his plan. The plan was prepared by him. He assured of a better life outside the jail,” Faizan told investigators minutes after he was pulled out, police claim.

The boy’s confessions was preceded by a night-long search. Officials could not find them through the dark but, after around six hours of looking, one of the 15 teams found Faizan inside the drain. “The team could not imagine him hiding inside a drain, but they were alerted after they heard someone crying,” sources said.
“Faizan, a repeat offender, told investigators that he was granted bail last time after his bond was signed by his elder brother. But this time, his brother was so annoyed that he refused to sign the bail bond. He was depressed when Javed approached him. Javed told him that other prisoners will kill him if he stayed in the jail for long,” a police source said. It was after some grooming that Faizan agreed to participate in the escape plan.

“Javed shared his plan and also assured Faizan that he will take care of him after they escaped. But he was duped once they were out as Javed escaped the spot, leaving behind Faizan in the drain,” the source said.
Meanwhile, a search was on to find Javed on Monday. Based on a complaint by the superintendent of Jail No. 7, a case was registered under Sections 223 and 224 of the IPC and prevention of damage to the public property at Hari Nagar police station in West Delhi. “After registering the case, police has started an investigation and many teams have been formed to nab the absconder. Police suspect the involvement of an insider and are checking the role of labourers and sweepers,” a senior police officer said.
