Silchar: The Cachar district administration is planning to introduce mobile ‘seva kendras’ to help people living in remote areas submit their NRC applications, district coordinator of NRCRajiv Jha said on Monday.
Addressing senior district and NRC officials, Jha said the state government launched online NRC application facility four days ago to ease the rush of applicants at the NRC seva kendras across the state.
The online facility will help applicants, who often have to stand in long queues to submit their documents, Jha said and added that people could log on to nrcapponline.org.in or at www.nrcassam.nic.in to complete the process.
Jha said the district administration held community-level meetings from June 5-19 in 163 gaon panchayats to sensitize people and panchayat representatives on the dos and don’ts of NRC application. Around 5,000 people attended the meetings. Similar meetings are under way in urban centres, he added. The official said people should not worry about having to submit their marriage certificates as it is not mandatory for all.
