RAWALPINDI: Forensic experts believe that short-circuiting in an air conditioner may have led to the death of seven members of a family at a house in Chaklala Scheme-III around two weeks ago.
A police official said the observation has been made by forensic experts of the Punjab Forensic Science Agency who had collected evidence from the house.
The postmortem report of the victims has also suggested that the deaths had happened due to suffocation caused by short-circuiting. The seven persons including five children were killed in Chaklala Scheme-III on June 17 after the fire erupted in their house.
A formal forensic report of the agency was yet to be received by the police. “We have not received the forensic report but experts have observed that the fire erupted in the air conditioner of the house may have led to the deaths,” said a police official. “The experts are also conducting tests on the victims’ lungs to further determine the cause of the deaths,” said the police official.
The Islamabad Electricity Supply Company is yet to submit its report to the district administration, detailing how the fire broke. The police official said they will receive all three reports in the next two days.
