Rs.100 cr. amenities in Nizamabad

MNC general body thanks Modi, Venkaiah for including the town under urban rejuvenation scheme

: The general body of the Municipal Corporation of Nizamabad (MNC), in its meeting chaired by Mayor Akula Sujatha here on Monday thanked Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the Union Urban Development Minister M. Venkaiah Naidu for including the town under the Atal Mission for Rejuvenation and Urban Transformation (AMRUT).

Later addressing a joint press conference, the Mayor and the MNC Commissioner Vasam Venkateswarlu described the AMRUT scheme as a boon to the town as it would bring rapid progress in drinking water supply, waste management, drainage system, public transport and greenery.

An amount of Rs.100 crore or more depending on the progress in the work is expected to be released in the next five years for the scheme, with emphasis on sewerage facilities, septic management and storm water drains to reduce flooding, pedestrian, non-motorised and public transport facilities, parking spaces and enhancing amenity value by creating and upgrading green spaces, parks, recreation centres especially for children, they said.

Improve online services

Appealing to the elected representatives and residents to cooperate in removing illegal structures, roadside and footpath encroachments, the Commissioner said the money under the scheme would not be released immediately as the civic body should improve online-based services primarily .

With the progress of online services, the government would keep releasing funds.
