SharePoint and Office 365 Organizations White Paper Examines Insights, Challenges, and Strategies

McLean, VA, US and Stevenage, UK (PRWEB UK) 30 June 2015

Concept Searching, the global leader in semantic metadata generation, auto-classification, and taxonomy management software, and developer of the Smart Content Framework™, is pleased to announce the publication of its third annual SharePoint and Office 365 survey results white paper, ‘SharePoint and Office 365 State of the Market Survey'.

The SharePoint and Office 365 State of the Market Survey was conducted from November 2014 to March 2015, and 432 unique surveys were completed by organizations that currently have one or more versions of SharePoint in use or are using Office 365 in a hybrid or cloud environment. The survey was made available via the Concept Searching website and participation was invited via social media postings and news items. The survey was not sent to the Concept Searching client base or prospects, as it was felt that this could skew the results. Participants were sought in this way to ensure unbiased results. Best efforts have been made to maintain neutrality in the analysis of the results of the survey, and the white paper does not contain Concept Searching product information.

Although the survey was designed to determine how SharePoint organizations were planning for the future, on a deeper level the intent was to identify key organizational drivers in leveraging SharePoint to develop and deploy intelligent metadata enabled solutions. Results show that a significant number of organizations are at the beginning of the metadata maturity model and have yet to leverage metadata to improve business outcomes. The questions covered a variety of probable application and environmental challenges, and the responses solicited provided a framework to rank those challenges organizations are seeking to solve.

An additional objective of the survey was to understand organizations' views, acceptance levels, and readiness relating to using Office 365, either in a hybrid environment or in the cloud. The results yielded both surprising and not so surprising answers. Office 365 was released in 2011, and has enjoyed enormous growth. Microsoft has expended considerable energy on the rapid addition of products and features to gain a competitive market advantage. In many initiatives, Microsoft has succeeded. The cloud will be the future, and technology is at the beginning of a long road to exceed current functionality and improve the infrastructure already available in on-premises systems, regardless of platform.

"This year's survey was significantly more comprehensive than previous years, as an essential portion focused on Office 365, and its associated applications," said Martin Garland, President of Concept Searching. "We conduct the annual survey to more fully understand the challenges as well as the advantages of a SharePoint or Office 365 specific environment. This helps us focus on the delivery of enhancements to our solutions, which address technology challenges that need to be met. The survey results enable us to become more aware of and responsive to the requirements of our clients and prospects," he concluded.
