Five injured in bear attack

Two workers of a private establishment were attacked by a bear at Kakarapalli of Santabommali mandal in the early hours of Monday.

The bear had attacked three persons, P. Appala Swamy, Potnuru Mukhalingam and Munnela Neelamma of Nandigama and Tekkali mandals, on Thursday night, injuring them severely. They were admitted to a private hospital in Tekkali where their condition was said to be stable. Srikakulam District Forest Officer B. Vijaya Kumar said the animal had been found moving in Tekkali, Santabommoli and Meliyaputti mandals.

He said the government would bear the medical expenses of the injured. Mr. Vijayakumar added that special teams had been formed to catch the bear.
