NEW DELHI: Looking for dual degrees, three-continent programme or courses like aerospace engineering or BCom(LLB)—something Delhi University and Jamia Millia Islamia can’t boast of? Experts suggest that instead of compromising on the subject of choice to be in a popular college, it is advisable to study what one wants to at the undergraduate level. And a wide range of courses make Amity University, Noida, a good destination.

The admissions to the university are open and applications are being accepted for the undergraduate programmes till July 15.
With 72 undergraduate courses—30 introduced this year from its newly established Greater Noida campus—this private university offers a wide range of undergraduate courses. Right from engineering to liberal arts, law to foreign language and applied sciences to management, the university has it all.
“But the strength of the university is the holistic development of the students and the confidence they gain as they graduate from our campuses,” said Atul Chauhan, chancellor, Amity University.
Speaking about the selection criteria, Chauhan said, “We, too, are receiving applications from high scorers but we don’t go by the cutoff system which eliminates. We have a holistic approach, involving aspects like Class XII scores to interviews and group discussion, while enrolling students.
“Overall, we have 9,000 seats for which we received 1.5 lakh applications last year. Of these, we had shortlisted 35,000 for interviews,” Chauhan said. There are 15,000 Amity students availing full or partial scholarships.

“Currently, we have 6,000 students who have 90% aggregate in physics, chemistry and maths. At Amity, no meritorious student will be turned away due to financial issues. Any student who has scored 93% and above gets full scholarship,” said Chauhan.
Another interesting aspect of the university are the three-continent programmes like BTech, journalism and mass communication and Bachelor in design where students study in India, UK, and USA.
The university also recently developed the most advanced news and film studios for the journalism and mass communication courses. It also have twinning programmes with leading universities like the University of Birmingham. The students finish half of their BTech, BBA or MBA programme in India and the rest in the UK or the USA.
