Two stray dogs get new homes after charity show
NASHIK: A charity show organised on Sunday by city-based NGO Sharan saw two stray dogsbeing adopted by some visitors. Sharan works for animal welfare and had organised a charity show in collaboration with Divine Dance Academy, who gave a free performance for fund-raising. The event was held at the Dadasaheb Gaikwad
“Two dogs were adopted. Both are about two months old and are healthy.
Many people turned up at the stalls asking for solutions for the sick animals,” said Sharanya Shetty, founder of the NGO which is registered with the Animal Welfare Board of India.
Stalls for adoption and for educating people about animals, banners etc were also put up.
Chief guest of the programme Mukund Dixit, who has worked with Baba Amte at Gadchiroli, narrated his experiences to the audience and asked the NGO to create awareness about animals who often devour plastic bags and items when feeding in the open.
Stalls of bird feeding and bird bath had also been put up. “The stalls were informative and the banners helped us know more about how to rescue birds. Many times, birds get entangled with manja on trees or there is a sick animal on the road but we don’t know who to contact. We have to locate them through various sources. This information will be handy for us,” said Nikita Paranjape, a resident of pipeline road.
“We saw a new concept of bird bath which was very innovative. Everyone can try to make it at home or learn it from Ramesh Iyer who teaches for free. We developed a new love for animals. The charity show was very entertaining and the information was very valuable,” said Rohit Jagtap, a college student.
“The show got good response and people came not only for the charity show but also for gathering information at the stalls. Information about the work carried out by the NGO and for creating awareness,” said Jagbir Singh, an animal activist.
