Goaltender Karri Ramo formed a nice partnership with Jonas Hiller this past season for the Calgary Flames, but he remains unsigned as the clock ticks toward Wednesday’s opening of the free-agency market.

"We’re still in dialogue with Calgary. Whether it gets done or not, I can’t really say right now," Ramo’s agent, Todd Diamond, told ESPN.com Monday morning. "But we haven’t closed the door."

The Flames spent the draft weekend trying to trade for a goalie, but a team source confirmed Monday that they’ve also kept the lines open on Ramo. They have to be cautious about doling out long-term contracts, because it's a young, emerging team with a number of players who are going to need to be re-signed during the next few seasons. General manager Brad Treliving is trying to be careful in how he manages his salary cap.

Meanwhile, other teams have reached out to Ramo’s camp since the interview window opened last week.

"At least five teams . . . when I walked into the draft on Saturday morning I was bombarded," Diamond said.

He wouldn’t name those teams, but it would be shocking if the San Jose Sharks were not one of them. The Sharks still haven’t found their goalie, although GM Doug Wilson still has a list of options on his plate -- some of them trade options, as colleague Craig Custance discussed in his blog Monday morning.
