Ezra Miller, best known for his roles in critically-acclaimed movies The Perks Of Being Wallflower and We Need To Talk About Kevin is reportedly in talks with Warner Brothers, to star in the upcoming movie adaptation of J.K Rowling's Harry Potter spin-off novel, Fantastic Beasts And Where To Find Them.

According to Variety, Miller is the "frontrunner" when it comes to casting the role, fuelled by sources telling them that the 22-year-old has always been the favourite but at the moment no official contracts have been signed.

Set about seven decades before the events of the Potter saga, Fantastic Beasts is based on the fictional Hogwarts textbook, written by author-turned-magizoologist Newt Scamander as he discovers new magical species on his travels around the world.

If he were to be cast, Miller would be playing Kredan, an American wizard who Scamander meets when visiting New York City. He then goes on to help his new acquaintance find and document numerous creatures throughout the short book. After that, the plot for the film involving the characters is very much up in the air. But simply speaking, Kredan does sound like a bad guy name though, doesn't it?

The film will see a lot of well-practised Harry Potter crew members banding together once again with David Yates said to be directing, David Heyman will produce (each of whom have been involved in bringing the wizarding world to cinema screens several times) and original author Rowling will be penning the screenplay.

Already confirmed cast members include Eddie Redmayne who will play lead Scamander and more recently, British-born American actress Katherine Waterson has been unveiled as Porpentina, a witch whom Scamander also meets in the US and goes on to eventually marry.

Besides the three characters mentioned, there are other main roles within the movie that are still yet to be cast -- Queenie, Porpentina's sister and Jacob, an adversary of Scamander's.

Rowling has previously confirmed that this movie is the first of what will eventually be a trilogy, so whoever is cast will inevitably become a bonafide part of the hugely-successful franchise.

Last year, it was announced that Miller would be starring as The Flash in a solo movie by the same name, about the super-fast superhero, set for a 2018 release. Subsequently, it was also revealed that he would be making some sort of an introductory appearance as the same character in 2016's Batman v Superman: Dawn Of Justice.
