The invention is the creation of a group of teens.

Somewhere over the rainbow, there are a bunch of condoms that will turn magical colors if you or your partner has a STI. No, this isn’t a scene from a strange dream that you had the other night, but, in fact, the brainchild of a group of teens from London.

The teens—Muaz Nawaz, Daanyaal Ali, and Chirag Shah—created the color-changing condoms, called the S.T. Eye, to detect infections, such as chlamydia and syphilis, using a built-in “indicator.” If the user has a STI, the condom morphs colors.

One of the students, Ali, told The Independent, “We wanted to make something that make detecting harmful STIs safer than ever before, so that people can take immediate action in the privacy of their own homes without the invasive procedures at the doctors.”

Lucky enough for the three super-smart teens, their condoms won them £1,000 and a trip to Buckingham Palace, although we’re not sure what the Queen will think of their invention. So far as the product being mass-produced, a representative from the TeenTech Awards (the competition that the teens won) told the Daily Dot that the condoms are “very much a concept and… not a finalized design.”
