Nagraj Khursane claims bronze medal at Maharashtra athletics meet

Nagraj Khursane continued his sterling performance as the young city athlete grabbed the bronze medal in the 1500 metres on the third and final day of the Maharashtra State Senior Athletics Championship at SAI synthetic track, Kandivali, in Mumbai on Sunday.

NAGPUR: Nagraj Khursane continued his sterling performance as the young city athlete grabbed the bronze medal in the 1500 metres on the third and final day of the Maharashtra State Senior Athletics Championship at SAI synthetic track, Kandivali, in Mumbai on Sunday.
Khursane finished the one-mile run in 3 minutes 56 seconds to post his best timing so far. Pune's Chandrakant Manwatkar triumphed with 3.51, while Kailash Hirve (3.54) of Satara bagged silver.

On Saturday, Khursane clinched gold in the 3000m steeplechase. He trains under the guidance of former international athlete Vaishali Chatare.
The Nagpur district women's 4x100m relay team consisting of Meenal Patil, Shital Kathane, Reema and Yamini Thakre missed medal by a whisker as they finished fourth with a timing 59.10s.
Pune team emerged winner whereas Mumbai Suburb and Dhule achieved second and third place respectively. Pune emerged overall champion in the said meet.
Nagpur athletes displayed satisfactory performance clinching one gold, one silver and one bronze medals.
NDAA president Dr Babanrao Taywade, secretary Sharad Suryavanshi and other office-bearers have congratulated the medal winning athletes and wished them best luck for future.
