"Sardaar Ji" ("Sardar Ji"), starring Diljit, Mandy and Neeru has collected about ₹14.45 crore at the box office worldwide in the first weekend and recovered its making costs.

The movie, whose release on 26 June was preceded by massive hype and promotion, did good business in theatres across Punjab, Delhi, UP, Rajasthan and Mumbai. 

With a collection of ₹2.49 crore nett on its first day, "Sardaar Ji" became one of the biggest Punjabi grossers of 2015 at the box office on the opening day.

It collected about ₹2.72 crore on Saturday and earned over ₹3 crore on Sunday, taking its nett collections to about ₹8.21 crore in India in the first weekend.

The Diljit Dosanjh, Mandy Takhar and Neeru Bajwa starrer also got an overwhelming opening overseas.

"Sardaar Ji" collected ₹1.73 crore (A$353,385) in Australia, ₹1.07 crore (£106,595) in the UK and ₹44.45 lakh (NZ$101,659) in New Zealand in the first weekend. Its three-day total from these countries stood at ₹3.24 crore.

"Sardaar Ji" had a massive release in the US, Canada and a few other countries as well.

The makers are yet to reveal details of earnings from these markets. The collection in the US and Canada is expected to be higher than the earnings in Australia. The first weekend total of the film is expected to cross ₹6 crore at the overseas box office.

As per early estimates, "Sardaar Ji" has collected approximately ₹14.45 crore worldwide in the first weekend.  Made on a budget of ₹11 crore, the film has recovered its production costs and earned a small profit in three days.

Trade experts feel this is a big achievement for a Punjabi film and its 3-day business is bigger than some big-ticket Bollywood films of 2015.
