Training police to handle natural disasters

The Fire and Rescue Services Department personnel conducted a training programme for police personnel at the Police Recruits School Ground here. on handling fire or natural disasters.

District Officer of Fire and Rescue Services Department, Coimbatore, S.R. Chandran said that about 200 personnel from the armed reserve, and local police stations took part in the programme.

A team of 25 personnel performed different methods of putting out an oil based fire outbreak. They showed ways to rescue persons. In an interactive session that followed they explained ways to put off fire in forest, huts, elevated buildings, and LPG leakage. More such programmes would be organised, if needed. Mr. Chandran said that the department will organise station level exercises on rescuing persons caught in water bodies for the benefit of the public.
