An ancient temple dedicated to Sri Amirtha Narayana Perumal, located at Tirukkadaiyur, will be renovated through donor works. A decision to this effect was taken after K.A.Jayabal, Minister for Fisheries, visited the village and inspected the temple on Sunday.0

The Minister’s visit followed oft-repeated plea by the members of the public, particularly those who offer worship on the occasion of the Sashtiabdhapoorthi (60th birthday celebrations) at the temple.

Tirukkadaiyur Sri Abirami temple is noted for the Sashtiabdhapoorthi celebrations and it is believed that offering worship at the temple was good for the senior couples.

Accompanied by S.Palanisamy, District Collector, and Paunraj, MLA from Poompuhar, the Minister inspected the temple from outside, as it needs total renovation. The temple had been constructed using stones indigenous to the area.

Mr. Paunraj displayed a piece of stone used for its construction and pleaded with the Minister to ensure the same material was used for renovating the temple to retain its historical uniqueness.

T.Sivakumar, Executive Officer of the temple, said that it had been planned to renovate the temple in a phased manner using donor works.

To start with, the three major shrines dedicated to Sri Amirthanarayana Perumal, Sri Amirthavalli Thaayar and Sri Anjanyea would be renovated at a cost of Rs. 21 lakh, Rs.10 lakh and Rs. 2.90 lakh respectively.

A few donors from foreign countries have also planned to contribute their mite for the renovation of the temple, he said. Further details can be had by dialling 80982-74712.
