NEW DELHI: Eight children below the age of 18, including three girls, have been rescued by Delhi Police from a factory in north Delhi’s Burari area. The owner of the factory has been absconding since the raid.
According to police, they received a PCR call on Friday which informed them about the child labourers working at a factory that makes speakers.

When a team comprising police officers, and members of the Delhi Commission of Women reached the factory, they found three girls and five boys, all minors, working there.
The children were being paid Rs 3,200 per month for working nine hours a day. They were not being paid for overtime.
After the rescue operation, the girls were sent to Aman Birdari Kilkari Children Home for Girls and the boys were sent to remand home. Their statements will be recorded on Monday.
The factory owner, who stays in Shalimar Bagh, has been absconding ever since police officials got in touch with him before conducting the raid, and asked him to come to the spot.
The children, afraid of losing their jobs, initially lied about their ages in front of police but after the NGO workers coaxed them, they told them their real ages. Police said they have registered a case under relevant sections of labour law.
