BY SYLVIA MWEETWA –

A FARMER in Kabwe has told the court how a woman he picked from a night club allegedly stole his K10,000 after a drinking spree.
Layborn Mudenda said the money was part of the K11,000 he had in his possession after selling cattle.
Mr Mudenda woke up to a rude shock as he found his ‘partner’ had disappeared with the money.
Precious Nchimunya is accused of stealing Mr Mudenda’s money but she denied the charge.
The incident happened on June 6 this year.
“This is the woman that stole my K10,000. I had just sold cattle and I had on me K11,000 and I only used K1,000 but the other money disappeared after she left me in the room,” Mr Mudenda said.
Mr Mudenda said he was approached by Nchimunya, who asked to be bought some drinks but in the process, the two went together and spent the night at a lodge.
He told  the court that when he woke up the following morning around 04:00 hours, he discovered that the woman had  disappeared and the money was not where he had hidden it before the duo fell asleep.
Mr Mudenda said he then went to a named night spot where the two meant and after inquiring from people, he managed to get the woman’s physical address.
In the company of police officers, Ms Nchimunya was found at her house.
Another witness, Estella  Mulenga, told the court that  she recalled receiving a team of police officers at her home who were enquiring about the whereabouts of Nchimunya.
When Nchimunya resurfaced, she was informed about the police officers who had been looking for her and she later went to the police station.
She was, subsequently, arrested and charged with theft.
Trial continues today.
