Liquor worth Rs 52.40 lakh seized from Godhra, two arrested

Godhra taluka police arrested two persons and seized Indian Made Foreign Liquor (IMFL) and four vehicles amounting to Rs 81.90 lakhs on Sunday morning.

VADODARA: Godhra taluka police arrested two persons and seized Indian Made Foreign Liquor (IMFL) and four vehicles amounting to Rs 81.90 lakhs on Sunday morning.
The accused have been identified as Kamlesh Charan and Jagdish Charan. According to the police, the accused were trading liquor worth Rs 52.40 lakh in four separate vehicles near Matwala Lake near Bhetiya forest around 22 kilometres from Godhra taluka police station.

Both the accused are residents of Gavasi village of Godhra taluka of Panchmahal district.
According to the police the IMFL amounted to Rs 52.40 lakh. The police recovered a truck worth Rs 15 lakh, two cars amounting to a total of Rs 8.50 lakh and tractor worth Rs six lakh. The police are conducting investigations to track down other accused in bootlegging at the spot.
According to the police, the accused used the spot to trade liquor and was frequented by many bootleggers and customers. Several persons connected with the bootlegging activity at the spot fled immediately after the police conducted a raid.
The police have booked both Kamlesh and Jagdish under section 66B, 65I, 117B and 81 of the Prohibition Act.
