LUCKNOW: Taking a swipe at Prime Minister Narendra Modi for postponing his Varanasi visit due to heavy rainfall, Uttar Pradesh minister Azam Khan today said he should not play with the emotions of the people.
"Whether it's fortune or misfortune of the people of Varanasi, they will decide, but keeping in mind the manner in which the visit has been cancelled for the second time... now the 'badshah' of the country should lay foundation stone or inaugurate schemes from his office instead of holding public meetings," he said.

The minister claimed that it was for the second time that Prime Minister's visit has been cancelled. "Hope that instead of playing with the emotions of the people, BJP will learn to respect them," Khan said.

The minister said that SP chief Mulayam Singh Yadav never cancelled his trip no matter how inclement the weather was.

"The history is witness that whether its rain or flood, no hurdle can stop SP supremo Mulayam Singh Yadav. Netaji (Mulayam) always reached the meeting place whether its waterlogged or its raining.

"The number of people might be high or low, but it never happened that Netaji did not reach a rally place," Khan said in a statement issued here.

He also appealed to the Prime Minister to give a compensation of Rs 25 lakh each to the kin of farmers, who committed suicide and government job to one family member.
