Communist Party of India (CPI) leader Atul Kumar Anjan on Sunday alleged that Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s image is getting tarnished with the move to shield External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj and Rajasthan Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje over the controversy surrounding former IPL chairman Lalit Modi.
“If Vasundhara Raje has been given a clean chit then all the proofs point towards the relationship shared between Vasundhara Raje and Lalit Modi. Shares were sold, shares were transferred. For one rupee, 96,000 shares were given and it was labelled as a birthday gift for her. This is corruption. If Prime Minister is trying to save them then his image is getting tarnished,” said Anjan.
The CPI leader further said Raje and Lalit Modi scandal reminds him of the Charles Shobraj scandal.
“On this whole issue, how Lalit Modi ran away, how he reached, how his passport was taken, how is passport got confiscated, later how Sushma ji and Vasundhara ji submitted affidavit and wrote a letter to the British Government, this clearly tells us that Sushma ji and Vasundhara ji are badly trapped and even the government is involved,” he added.
Anjan also welcomed BJP veteran Lal Krishna Advani’s remark that political credibility was essential.
“Advani ji is telling the truth…. The situation of his party is a different matter. As a politician, he has the courage to speak the truth. He is showing RSS and Bharatiya Janta Party what the truth is,” he said.
Advani reportedly said in an interview earlier that the politicians must live up to the trust placed in them by the voters.
