NAGPUR: The second day of the
Maharashtra State Senior Athletics Championship, being held at SAI's synthetic track, Kandivali in Mumbai, turned out to be a fruitful one for the Nagpur district athletes.
On Saturday, city athletes came up with sterling show and bagged one gold, one silver and two bronze medals.
Nagraj Khursane, a member of Nav Maharashtra
Krida Mandal, claimed gold medal in the steeplechase event.
Khursane won in 9.32 minutes. Mumbai's Rohit More (9.38) and Suresh Tahare (9.48) finished second and third respectively.
Earlier Khursane, a student of Vasantrao Naik College of Physical Education, pocketed the yellow metal in the same event during the junior nationals.
In the women's section, international athlete of the city Monika Raut clocked 11 minutes and 30 seconds to win the silver medal in the steeplechase.
Pune's Manisha Salunke bagged gold clocking 11.20 minutes. Another city athlete Shital Bhagat finished third with a timing 12.22 minutes.
In the 400m run, Yamini Thakre grabbed bronze medal with a timing of 1.13.20. Satara's Sunita Jadhav won the race with a timing 1.11, while Mumbai City's Manisha clocked 1.13.19 to secure silver medal.
