In the wake of increased inflow into Biligundlu from Karnataka, revenue officials here held a meeting to ascertain the safety protocol to be followed in the event of the inflow crossing 30,000 cusecs.

Inflow

Collector K.Vivekanandan told The Hindu that the inflow into Biligundlu was less than 20,000 cusecs and the officials were monitoring the inflow from Krishnaraja Sagar and Kabini dams.

“A joint meeting with the local DSP, RDO, Tahsildar, fire and forest department was held to monitor the flow particularly around the area,” he said.

The administration is set to increase the number of personnel to monitor safety of tourists in Hogenakkal on Sunday.

Tourists

“The tourist turnover especially on Sundays is quite high. In lieu of this, the number of Fire and Rescue Services personnel deployed will be high,” the Collector said.

Earlier, it was expected that the inflow by late Saturday night would be 30,000 cusecs from both Krishnaraja Sagar and Kabini dams, as per the information received by the administration from Karnataka.
