Seven employees suspended, show-cause notice to 8 others

KISHTWAR, June 27: Fearing disciplinary action from the Director Health Services Jammu, Chief Medical Officer (CMO) Kishtwar visited Community Health Centre (CHC) Marwah and found several employees of Health Department and those engaged under National Health Mission absent from duty. He has ordered suspension of 7 Health Department employees and issued show-cause notice to 8 others for dereliction of duties.
The seven employees of the Health Department, who have been suspended, are Bashir Ahmed, Lab Technician, Ghulam Mohammad, Nursing Orderly, Tabsum Naiz, Surkha Devi, Isha Devi, Sharda Devi and Verta Devi, FMPHWs.
Meanwhile, eight others to whom show-cause notice has been issued, are Dr Shazad Ahmed, Dr Zahoor Hussain and Dr Arshad Rafiq, Medical Officers (MOs), Rishi Kumar, OT Technician, Parveez Ahmed shah, X-Ray Technician, Shehzad Ayoub and Sanjay Kotwal, Lab Technicians and Mudsara Naz, Junior Nurse.
CMO, who is also Vice-Chairman of District Rural Health Society, Kishtwar, took the action against the employees of the Health Department after receiving letter from Director Health Services (DHS) Jammu Dr Baljeet Singh Pathania, in which it was mentioned that various complaints were being received regarding non-availability of doctors and paramedical staff at Marwah. The complaints were also received from various quarters including Minister of State for Health and Medical Education.
The letter also reads: “No doctor is available in CHC Marwah, where people are protesting. Inspite of repeated instructions issued from the DHS Jammu regarding detachment of staff in various institutions of district Kishtwar nothing concrete has been done till date”.
Dr Pathania through letter directed CMO to detach all the staff attached in various institutions and visit Marwah personally to ensure proper health care services in institutions of block Dachhan especially CHC Marwah.
As Director Health Services had warned to initiate disciplinary action against CMO, the latter visited the CHC Marwah, which led to suspension of seven and issuance of show-cause notice to eight others.
