          Mets-Reds game suspended in seventh tied 1-1

          NEW YORK -- Saturday’s New York Mets game is ... to be continued.

          After Carlos Torres took the mound to open the top of the seventh inning against the Cincinnati Reds on Saturday at Citi Field, the umpiring crew halted play because of intensifying rain.

          The game did not resume and ultimately was suspended with the score tied 1-1.

          The Steve Miller Band will play after Sunday's games.

          The game will resume Sunday at 1:10 p.m. ET, before the regularly scheduled game. Torres, already introduced into the game, will be on the mound when the game resumes, manager Terry Collins said.

          Tickets for Saturday's game are only exchangeable for Sunday's games and concert.

          Grandyman cannot: Curtis Granderson had plenty of impact -- first positive, then the opposite.

          Granderson doubled in the first inning, then delivered a solo homer in the third inning against Michael Lorenzen to open the game’s scoring. It was Granderson’s fifth homer in his past seven games.

          However, in the fifth inning Granderson dropped Tucker Barnhart’s leadoff fly ball near the right-field line. It appeared an error, but officially was ruled a double. Two batters later, Brandon Phillips plated Barnhart with a double against Matt Harvey to even the score at 1.

          And, just before play was halted and with the score tied at 1 in the sixth inning, Granderson came to the plate with the bases loaded and two outs. Left-hander Manny Parra entered, fell behind in the count 3-1, but then retired Granderson on a flyout to left field.

          Granderson is batting .128 (6-for-47) against southpaws this season.

          The Mets have scored 14 runs in their past 10 games (including Saturday’s partial game).

          Ace high: Harvey allowed one run on five hits and two walks (one intentional) in six innings. He departed with his pitch count at 90 for pinch hitter Darrell Ceciliani with the potential go-ahead run on second base and two outs in the sixth. Ceciliani and Dilson Herrera then walked, ending Reds starter Michael Lorenzen's day. Granderson then flied out to leave the bases loaded.

          Harvey has allowed two runs in 19 2/3 innings over his past three starts.

          What’s next: Left-handed prospect Steven Matz makes his major league debut in Sunday's series finale. Matz, who led the Pacific Coast League with a 2.19 ERA, opposes right-hander Josh Smith (0-0, 12.00 ERA).
