Rebel bikie member's body found in Cowan bush

Updated

Investigations have begun into the shooting death of a Rebels bikie member whose body was found in bushland north of Sydney.

Police said the body of 37-year-old Mark Easter, from Little Bay, was discovered next to the Pacific Highway at Cowan, near Berowa, on Friday morning.

A group of council workers made the grisly discovery and notified police.

Detectives have been asking local businesses in Cowan for CCTV footage to see if anyone was captured in the area before Friday morning.

Hornsby police would not give details on how long the body had been in the bushes.

"Detectives from the Homicide Squad and Kuring-gai Local Area Command have now formed Strike Force Nevorie to investigate the matter," a spokesman said.

Investigators want to speak with anyone who may have knowledge of Mr Easter's movements last week.

Anyone with information is urged to contact Crime Stoppers.
