A Hyderabad-based start-up, ECR Tech, has developed an electronic cash register machine equipped with GPRS, server-cloud technology and features. It will be launched next month, said its Managing Director S.P. Chandu on Saturday.
“Why China, hum hai na,” is the tagline adopted by the company. ECRs Tech has done considerable research on the design, sources the components locally and manufactures Bilkar, the machine.
Priced at Rs.15,000 each, the machines’ cost is on a par or less than those being imported from Chinese, Mr. Chandu said and added that the unit can make 300-500 pieces per month.
The push for his decision to get into manufacturing came from PM’s ‘Make in India’ call and the market for the device is large, he said.
The company would target all commercial establishments, big and small. In this context, he cited estimates that only 22 per cent of retail segment used automated billing solutions.
Users can connect to the web server of Bilkar.in to monitor sales and transactions remotely. The machine has a 13-hour battery back-up, can store up to 1 lakh items, comes with 8-line LED display and SD card device for data backup.
