Russia Ready to Prepare Putin's Visit to Japan, Tokyo's Support Needed
TOKYO (Sputnik) – According to the Yomiuri newspaper, Putin and Abe may meet on the sidelines of two international summits they are due to attend in November. The idea was floated during the two leaders’ phone talks earlier this week.

On November 15-16, Turkey’s Antalya will host an annual meeting of the G20 leaders and on November 18-19, economic leaders of Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) countries will convene in Manila, Philippines.

Putin and Abe may hold brief talks during the two events to set the stage for the Russian leader’s visit to Japan, the newspaper stated.

The exact date for Putin’s visit has not been set yet but during the telephone talks the Russian president stressed he would be “glad” to meet Abe.

Earlier in June, Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Igor Morgulov said that talks between Tokyo and Moscow on Putin’s Japan trip were underway.
