A two-member team, headed by a Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) inspected the arms of the district police here on Friday and found that they were maintained in good condition.
N. Madhavan, DSP (Small arms), Tiruchi range, who was specially trained to inspect the arms was assisted by Sub Inspector of Police Muniyandi in the day-long inspection at the Armed Reserve Police grounds.
The DSP said as 100 per cent inspection of arms in one drive was not possible, they inspected one third of the arms, possessed by the district police and forest personnel.
The inspected arms included 303 and 7.62 Rifles and AK 47 automatic weapons and all the arms were in good condition, he said.
The drive would go on for three years and every year one third of the arms would be brought for inspection, he said.
After completing the inspection of arms of the police and forest departments on Saturday, the team would inspect the arms of Sub Jail personnel at Kamudhi on Sunday, Mr Madhavan also said.
