Railway Pension Adalat helps settle 83 cases

Pension Adalats are necessary since all documentation must be corrected before retirement of employee, says Ashok Kumar.

Eighty-three cases were settled out of a total of 89 which were received during the half-yearly Pension Adalat of the Vijayawada Railway Division held at the Railway Institute here on Friday.

Divisional Railway Manager Ashok Kumar participated as the chief guest while additional DRM N.S.R. Prasad presided over the programme.

On the occasion, Mr. Ashok Kumar said such Pension Adalats were necessary since all the documentation needed to be corrected before retirement of the employee. The DRM said that he was glad that 93 per cent of the cases were resolved and the remaining would be redressed at the earliest.

An amount of nearly Rs. 1.70 lakh was paid to retired employees in the programme he said and complimented the Pensioners’ Association for helping the retired employees in matters related to their welfare. Mr. N.S.R. Prasad said Pension Adalat was a platform for sorting out matters related to post-retirement benefits and urged the personnel branch to mitigate their problems at the earliest.

Earlier, Senior Divisional Personnel Officer M. Sreeramulu presented a brief report on the conduct of proceedings of Pension Adalat.

Nineteen fresh cases were registered in Friday’s programme. All India Railway Pensioners’ Association divisional secretary Assauddin and assistant general secretary Purnachandra Rao were also present.
