Collector orders building of toilet in school hostel

DRDA told to upgrade mud road to tar

Vellore Collector R. Nanthagopal on Friday inspected the hostel of the Government High School in the tribal village of Peenjamandhai in Anaicut panchayat union and found that the hostel did not have a toilet. He directed the officials to take immediate steps to construct a toilet in the hostel.

Mr. Nanthagopal, who inspected the mud road leading to the Peenjamandhai village, which has been damaged due to rains, directed M. Manohar Singh, Project Director of the District Rural Development Agency to upgrade the mud road into a tar road. The road had been laid at a cost of Rs. 36 lakh.

The Collector inspected the nutritious meal centre in the school and enquired the students about the quality of the food supplied to them. On visiting the residential school functioning under the Sarva Siksha Abhiyan in the village, he enquired the students about their studies. When he visited the panchayat union elementary school and high school in the village, the teachers pleaded with him to construct a students’ hostel.

The Collector inspected the vacant room space in the high school and directed the rural development officials to ensure that it was used as a temporary hostel.

Mr. Nanthagopal, who inspected the work on the construction of a building for the rural Panchayat Service Centre in Konur village at a cost of Rs. 14.43 lakh, directed the officials to expedite construction of the building and facilitate the early functioning of the centre for the benefit of the people.
