YAMUNANAGAR: It's double whammy for the family of 42-year-old Nasir of Yamunanagar district, who passed away in Saudi Arabia after a brief illness. Apart from the grief of his death, the family is faced with the demand of Rs 7 lakh that Nasir's employer wants as an expense to send his body to India.
On Friday, the family, which lives in Amarpur locality of Jagadhri, sought help from the state government through the chief minister's window and also wrote to the Yamunanagar deputy commissioner to take up their problem with the concerned authorities.
"The company where my husband worked for six years refused to make arrangements for sending his body saying who will pay for it. The employer has asked us to pay Rs 7 lakh. My husband reportedly passed away on June 22 and till date the matter of bringing his body to India is undecided. At last we have sought help from the government as we can not pay the money. We even can not pay Rs 1 lakh," said Kausar, wife of deceased Nasir.
Nasir was the sole breadwinner of his family and went abroad to work with a construction company as a labourer. He is survived by his wife and two children. "We have received application from the family and will take up the matter at the highest-level recommending urgent help to the family," said Yamunanagar DC SS Phoolia.
