Mumbai's Burhani students refused seats on missing deadline
MUMBAI: Several in-house students from Burhani College of Arts and Commerce in Mazgaon were refused seats for not paying fees in time for degree college admissions. The students, some of whom have scored above 70%, could not make it to the college to pay the fees over the last few days.
Students and parents alleged that the college was seeking a penalty for the delay and resorting to such tactics to deliberately deny admissions.
Students and parents gathered on the campus, forcing the college to call the police.
College principal Haider Karrar said that the students had missed the university deadline. "We have asked them to wait till the management takes a decision. Nobody was asked them to pay a penalty," said the principal.
