Whether it’s winter, spring, summer or fall, a badass leather jacket is the one piece of outerwear you can throw on with almost any outfit and instantly amp up your cool-kid cred.

Sure, rock ’n’ rollers have embraced the classic moto look for eons (see: Joan Jett and Debbie Harry). But more and more movie stars and models keep popping up in them from coast to coast, proving that decades on, the leather jacket still hasn’t lost its luster — and now, they’re putting their own unique stamps on the rockin’ style.

Gigi Hadid and Jessica Alba were recently spotted in cheerful pink motos, while Chrissy Teigen and super-trendsetter Rihanna have stepped out in oversize boyfriend versions. Kim Kardashian, Selena Gomez and Karlie Kloss are also devoted disciples of the leather trend.

I love the two popular styles so much that I actually own one of each: a shrunken moto I bought years ago from Zara, and an oversize boyfriend jacket from H&M. Both inevitably get comments every time I wear them — particularly ones of disbelief when I reveal how little I paid for them. But luckily, just as every woman needs a leather jacket, there’s a brand out there that makes one at a price point you can afford. Try it out for yourself — all you need is a rock-star attitude to complete the look.
