Walking the ramp for a cause
About spreading awareness: Fashionistas in the city walked the ramp for a cause recently when The Crest by DLF in association with Shalini Vig Wadhwa and the Indian Cancer Society hosted the sixth edition of the Festival of Hope at the Magnolias Club, DLF5, Gurgaon.
The do saw cancer survivors and volunteers walk in support of cancer awareness in clothes designed by JJ Valaya, Rohit Bal and Suneet Varma to raise funds through the sale of the clothes.
Rahul Dev, who lost his wife to cancer, also walked the ramp to show his support. Shalini told us, “The message we are trying to send out through this festival is that there is life beyond cancer – you just need to get treated on time. The models who walked the ramp today are the ones who have survived cancer or have taken care of someone with cancer. People present here have come to spread the simple message that one needs to be aware before it’s too late.”
Survivor stories: Aakash Ohri, executive director, DLF, told us, “We admire the courage shown by these cancer survivors, who have not only fought cancer but have also succeeded in setting an example for others. We are privileged to have this opportunity to help spread awareness about this disease. These fighters deserve to be in the limelight because when you see these leaders of hope, it motivates you. It’s a good way to support them and cheer for them.” The brand boasts of iconic residences, acres of greenery, headquarters of multinational corporations and recreational avenues as well as excellent infrastructure. The Crest gives people an opportunity to celebrate life in a world-class style. Many, including Raghav Chadha, Aam Aadmi Party spokesperson, Jyotsna Govil, president, Indian Cancer Society and cancer survivor Indra Jasuja, were also spotted at the do.
