“The order to buy objects worth crores of rupees at a higher rate was issued in one day and another minister (HRD minister Smriti Irani) was found to have been involved in a case of fake degree,” she said.

Mayawati highlighted that Maharashtra is the birthplace of Bahujan movement and the karmabhoomi of several Dalit icons, referring to Jyotiba Phule, Chhatrapati Shahuji Maharaj and B R Ambedkar. She said while the followers of these icons are all over the country, the respect they receive in Uttar Pradesh should be an eye-opener for the people of Maharashtra.

Festive offer

“If the BSP movement emerges strong in Maharashtra, it will be a real tribute to the three great personalities,” Mayawati said. She said BSP has strong roots in Maharashtra and it only needs to work harder with its missionary zeal to convert it into electoral success so that the party can emerge as a ‘balance of power’ in the state.
