Dame Kiri Te Kanawa opera masterclass

As part of the BBC Cardiff Singer of the World season, internationally acclaimed opera star Dame Kiri Te Kanawa leads a masterclass for four of the competitors from the event.

Dame Kiri works with singers, Celine Forrest, Blaise Malaba, Regula Mühlemann and Sebastian Pilgrim and offers a critique on both voice and performance in the Dora Stoutzker Hall at the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama.

Accompaniment is provided by pianist Simon Lepper as the audience enjoy rare insights in vocal coaching from one of the world’s leading opera singers.

BBC Cardiff Singer of the World has been running since 1983 and the competition known throughout the classical music world as a showcase for opera and concert singers at the outset of their careers.

This year's winners included soprano Nadine Koutcher from Belarus, with South Korean bass Jongmin Park winning the Song Prize and Mongolian baritone Amartuvshin Enkhbat winning the Dame Joan Sutherland Audience Prize.
