Rs 8.20 lakh cash stolen from Pune's Katraj

PUNE: A gang of some unidentified men allegedly stole a bag containing cash of Rs 8.20 lakh from a bus stop in Katraj recently.
A complaint in this regard has been lodged by Sidhappa Sakalapur (51) of Karanataka. The Bharati Vidyapeeth police have registered a theft case against the unidentified men.
Amol Deokar, assistant inspector of the Bharati Vidyapeeth police said that the incident in the night with the complainant Sakalapur was waiting for the bus at Gujarwadi in Katraj, Deokar said.

He said that Sakalapur is groundnuts trader from Karanataka. He used to visit Pune frequently for delivering groundnuts to the traders in Marketyard. Recently, Sakalapur had come to the city with truck load of groundnuts. “He had distributed the groundnuts to the traders and also had collected money from them,” Deokar said.
Deokar said that Sakalapur had collected cash of Rs 8.22 lakh from the traders and had kept in his bag. “He was waiting at the bus stop at Gujarwadi in Katraj to board into the bus for Karnataka. “There were eight persons were at the bus stop,” Deokar said.
Deokar said that one of the people, who were standing next to Sakalapur stole his bag and started running away. “When Sakalapur came to about it, he started chasing the man. However, after running for some distance, the suspect sat on a motorcycle and fled away along with his accomplice,” Deokar said.
