From ‘Fauji’ to ‘Happy New Year’; 23 year journey of King Khan

New Delhi, Jun 26 (UNI) Bollywood king of romance Shah Rukh Khan started his career with a small restaurant business in Daryaganj and became one of India's biggest film stars. With no place to live in Mumbai, SRK struggled and got his first chance in TV series 'Fauji' (1989) and 'Circus' (1989-90). He did not look back. Shah Rukh made his debut in Indian cinema with ‘Deewana’. The movie release on June 25 coincided with SRK's completion of 23 years in Bollywood yesterday. The 50-year-old confessed that he never really watched his debut film. ‘’I have, till date, not seen Deewana. I have a notion that I don’t want to see my first or last creation. They are bookends, the story is between (sic),” he posted. SRK was born on November 2, 1965 at New Delhi. After completing his graduation from Hansraj College, Delhi University, he married Gauri Khan before any movie release. Shah Rukh rose to fame by playing negative characters in ‘Baazigar’ , ‘Darr’, ‘Anjaam’ and also inspired his peers to play anti-hero roles. The king of romance has mastered the art of spreading love all over the world, spreading his arms wide open inviting one hug at a time. It all started from ‘Baazigar’. ‘Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge,’ Shah Rukh’s one of the biggest blockbusters completed its 1,000 weeks in a Mumbai cinema this year. The movie has given him the title of romance king. Shah Rukh has been part of numerous commercial successes and has delivered a variety of critically acclaimed performances in movies like 'Dil To Pagal Hai' (1997), 'Kuch Kuch Hota Hai' (1998), 'Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham' (2001), 'Baazigar' (1993), 'Darr' (1993), 'Dil Se' (1998), 'Devdas (2002)', 'Kal Ho Naa Ho' (2003), ' Mai Hoon Na '(2004) and 'Chennai Express' (2013), among others. During his years in the Indian film industry, he has bagged many Filmfare, National and Iifa awards. SRK was also conferred Padma Shri by the Indian government. The actor, currently filming for Rohit Shetty’s ‘Dilwale’ along with Kajol, will also be seen in ‘Fan’ and ‘Raees’. UNI SHS CH RP1632
