BHOPAL: MPPEB scam accused Vipin Goel has raised questions on credibility of Special Task Force (STF) investigations into multi-crore admission scam, alleging he was implicated by the agency under influence of Dr Ajay Goenka, managing director of Chirayu Health and Medicare Private Limited over an old rivalry.
Goel, who was arrested for his alleged role in scam, moved a bail application before high court, alleging there are over 600 calls between STF’s DSP D S Baghel and Dr Goenka even though the latter was under agency’s scanner in PMT-2012 scam.
Baghel is an investigator in PMT-2012 scam in which Goenka’s role is being probed.
STF admitted before court there were frequent calls between DSP Baghel and Dr Goenka, but it was a doctor-patient relationship as his mother, wife and around 12 other family members were under his treatment.
Goel’s counsel argued it was very unlikely for Goenka to speak to DSP 30 times a day and the collusion should be probed. He said there were at least three calls between them after arrest of Prakhar Sihal, an accused in the Pre-PG scam. Goel was arrested as a mediator in the same case.
Court said even if there were calls between Baghel and Goenka, bail can’t be granted. Goel’s counsel requested court to grant them a day for further submission. Court will issue its order on Friday. They also mentioned in the petition that Goel had an enmity with Goenka over a payment issue.
In 2012, Talaiya police station registered a criminal case against Chirayu Charitable Foundation trustees on charges of cheating, breach of trust and criminal conspiracy, following a direction from court in the wake of an alleged dispute between the foundation and Goel’s civil construction firm.
According to the complaint, M/s Raksha Buildcon Private Limited (Goel’s company) entered into a contract with Chirayu for construction of medical college and hospital in 2009.
However, contractors withdrew from work in 2010, following dispute over payments, but kept their machinery of Rs 20 lakh at the site, which they alleged were sold off.
