BHOPAL: Egg or milk in anganwadis of Madhya Pradesh, the controversy seems to have refused to die down. A day after animal husbandry and fisheries minister Kusum Mehdele’s utterances in Bhopal, women and child development minister Maya Singh distanced herself from her cabinet colleague’s statement about eating eggs and fish in anganwadis.
After Shivraj Singh Chouhan government announced distribution of milk for children in anganwadis, minister for animal husbandry and fisheries Kusum Mehdele said on Wednesday in Bhopal, “those who want to eat eggs and fish should do so on their own.
Speaking to media, Mehdele said, “Who stopped anyone from eating eggs and fish? Those who eat non-vegetarian should eat eggs and fish.”
When asked to react on Mehedele’s statement, Maya Singh termed it as Mehedele’s “personal opinion”. Talking to reporters in Gwalior on Thursday, she said that “whatever chief minister wishes will be distributed in anganwadis.”
She was visiting a rehabilitation centre in the city. Maya Singh’s department governs anganwadis in the state.
